Global online payments company PayPal is creating 100 jobs in Dublin, as the ebay-owned company expands its european operations.

The new positions will be in customer service and operations, based at the eBay-owned firm's Blanchardstown base, and will be open to those fluent in English and a second European language.

It comes on top of 150 new jobs at the site last year.

The European Operation Centre at Blanchardstown opened in 2003, with staff numbers increasing from 25 to more than 1,100.

Uwe Heddendorp, vice president of PayPal's European operations, paid tribute to the workers at the site.

"It is a great testament to the team here in Dublin that we are able to announce the creation of further jobs at PayPal. Our European business continues to grow and I am proud to be able to once again support Irish job creation."
